Irene B. Hamelin, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 10, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.

Born on August 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Hadzinik) Kutyla. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Irene attended local schools. She was employed as a dispatcher for the City of Meriden at the Meriden Senior Center from where she retired.

Irene was a devoted mother and cherished that role in her life. A loving mother, grandmother and partner, she will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Hamelin is survived by her children: Dale Marie Cirillo of Meriden, Tom Hamelin of Meriden and Robert Hamelin; seven grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her former husband and best friend Marcel "Frenchy" P. Hamelin; her sisters and brother.
