Obituary

Irene L. Cleveland, 88, beloved wife of the late LCDR Arthur W. Cleveland II, USN (Ret), passed away on Wednesday, October 14th at Beverly Hospital in MA. Born in Meriden, CT, she was the daughter of the late Konstanty and Josephine (Stazewski) Zygmont. Irene grew up in Meriden and was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School. She then attended and graduated from Pratt Art Institute in Brooklyn, New York, being the only female in her Graphic Design class. Irene was employed as an offset striper and a graphic artist. She married her husband Arthur, an officer in the Navy and raised their four children all over the United States and overseas. Irene enjoyed sewing, painting, reading, traveling and especially loved being with her family. She is survived by her four children: Arthur W. Cleveland III and his wife Patricia of MA, Bruce Z. Cleveland and his wife Rosemarie of NH, Christopher C. Cleveland of NC and Donna A. Sibbach and her husband Arthur of MA; four grandchildren: Amanda Beck-Cleveland, Sabrina Cash, Christopher C. Cleveland, Jr. and Erik Sibbach; and one great granddaughter: Madison Cash along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Alex and Edward Zygmont, Jeanette Bryant and Helen Tencza. Her Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday October 17th at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden, CT. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday October 16th at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. Funeral arrangements in CT have been entrusted to the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
