Howard P. Carstens, 92, of Poinciana, FL, passed away on November 11, 2019. He was the husband of Carol Carstens, his loving wife of 43 years.

Born on July 1, 1927 in Blue Earth, MN, he was the son of the late August and Amelia (Fredricks) Carstens. Howard grew up in Bird City, KS, where he signed up to serve in the US Navy from 1945-1949 serving aboard the USS Sarda (SS-488), with rank of Electrician's Mate 2nd Class. After serving in the Navy, Howard held several positions for 41 years with Northeast Utilities in CT, retiring as an Area Line Supervisor. He was a member of the Citizens Assisted Patrol of Solivita (CAP) and The Solivita Veterans Club Honor Guard. In retirement, Howard loved the active lifestyle of the Solivita community, enjoyed solving puzzles and riding in his John Deere golf cart with his sweet dog, Lexi.

In addition to his wife Carol, Howard is survived by his three sons, Paul Carstens, Peter (Laurie) Carstens Howard P Carstens, II and his sister, Irma Deeds, Goodland, KS. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Steele and son-in-law Robert Steele.
