Obituary

Henry J. Mozdziak, 82, died on Monday February 15, 2016 at the MidState Medical Center with his family by his side. He is the husband of Elizabeth (Grinewsky) Mozdziak his loving wife of 57 years.

Born on June 4, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Sophie (Turek) Mozdziak. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Henry graduated from St. Stanislaus School '48 and Wilcox Technical High School '52. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.  Henry worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a tool and die maker from where he retired. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, working on numerous parish activities especially the June Fest and collecting at Sunday Mass for over 50 years. Henry was very active with the Knights of Columbus, Silver City Council #2 for over 35 years serving as Past Grand Knight. He was also a 4th degree Knight and served as Faithful Navigator of the Father McGivney Assembly. Henry was a member of the Meriden Elks for 30 years and an honoree of their annual Polish Night gathering. Henry was a life member of the Rocky Hill American Legion Post 0200 and a longtime member of the Meriden Polish Knights.

Henry is survived by his son John S. Mozdziak of Meriden; two daughters: Cynthia Mozdziak Albiach (Manuel, Jr.) of Southington, Paula Mozdziak Smyth (Edward) of Waccabuc, NY; a brother Edward Mozdziak (June) of Palm Coast, FL; three sisters: Sophie Crosson of Meriden, Stephanie Casner of St. Elizabeth, ME; Beatrice Pugsley of Hartford and five grandchildren: Melissa Albiach Simader, Joseph Albiach, Kristina Albiach, Jessica Smyth and Gregory Smyth. He was predeceased by three brothers: Carl Mozdziak, Sr., Matthew Mozdziak, Francis Mozdziak and three sisters: Theresa Shurack, Rose Mozdziak and Clara Mozdziak.

His funeral will be held on Friday February 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday evening February 18th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
