Henry L. Matias Jr., 50, of Meriden, CT, passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2026 at Midstate Medical Center.
Henry was born on August 17, 1975 in Meriden, Connecticut. He was a proud and devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His daughters were the center of his world and always made him smile and laugh. His love for his girls was profound and unwavering.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Henry had a true passion for being an auto mechanic. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether it was fixing a car or offering support, Henry could always be counted on.
Henry was the proud father of three daughters: Destiny Matias of Meriden, and Liz and Luz Matias of Southington. He shared a special bond with his brother, Jason, a constant presence in his life and his closest friend through everything.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry Matias Sr. and Luz "Lucy" Matias. Henry is survived by his siblings, Madelene Tassmer and her husband Robert of East Hampton, and Jason Matias and his wife Iris of Meriden. He also leaves behind his niece and nephew, Kaitlin and Zachary Tassmer, along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Henry will be remembered for his huge heart, his laughter, and his love of telling stories. He was always there when his family and friends needed him, offering support, laughter, and love. His presence brought comfort to those around him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Though his passing was sudden, his family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with our parents and other loved ones. His spirit will live on through his beautiful daughters, and his love, laughter, and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A graveside Christian service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Sacred Heart Cemetery (Section 20) in Meriden, where he will be laid to rest.
