Helen C. Russo, 95, beloved wife of the late Nicholas Russo died Wednesday February 8, 2012 at Coccomo Memorial Health Center. Born on January 31, 1917, Helen was the daughter of the late Charles and Candida (Bellefonte) Crovo. A lifelong resident of Meriden she attended local schools and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Helen was employed by New Departure where she retired from after many years of service. She was a very generous woman, often donating clothing and sneakers anonymously to the children of John Barry School. Helen was a member of the Red Hat Society and at age 69, she took up oil painting, taking first place at many of her exhibitions. Helen was like a second grandmother to the Russo, Femia and Fazzolari children. They celebrated many holidays and good times together. She is survived by her two nephews Robert Crovo and his family of CA and James Russo and his wife Jo and their family of Middletown and Bob Femia and his wife Jo of Meriden and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Helen was predeceased by her infant sister and four brothers: Lawrence Crovo, Thomas Crovo, Robert Crovo and Frederick Crovo.
