Obituary

Helen Mary DeMichele, 100, beloved wife of the late Henry DeMichele passed away on Friday December 2, 2016 at MidState Medical Center.

Born on January 31, 1916 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Marosz) Kozak. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Helen attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. She worked at ARLJ Wood Products Company in Meriden, from where she retired. Helen was a member of the Meriden Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking and especially caring for her family and grandchildren. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Helen will be greatly missed.


Mrs. DeMichele is survived by her daughters: Mary Anne Julius and her husband Richard of Meriden, Joanne Laverdet of NC; a sister Wanda Mik of Meriden; six cherished grandchildren: Richard Julius and his wife Loresa, Cynthia Laurello, Daniel Julilus, Sandra Julius, Thomas Laverdet, Marcie Laverdet; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husbands: Edward DeSandre and Anthony Casarella and two brothers: Edward and Theodore Kozak.

The family would like to thank the staff at Miller Memorial for the excellent care given to Helen.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday December 7th at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday December 6th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home. To send an online expression of sympathy please visit
