Gloria M. Mengual, 87, died peacefully on Monday February 18, 2013 at Avery Heights in Hartford. Born on September 6, 1925 in Caguas, PR, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Francisca (Perez) Lugo. Gloria was a longtime resident of Meriden. She worked for the Napier Company and was a former parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Gloria was a great gardener who enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants. She was a beautiful and talented seamstress and embroiderer. Gloria was a fabulous cook, who specialized in Spanish cuisine and was known for her rice and chicken dish. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was instrumental in helping to raise and provide child care for her granddaughters. Gloria especially enjoyed spoiling Sherri and Sam; she will be truly missed by them. Mrs. Mengual is survived by her daughter Gloria F. Mengual and her husband Charles Gregory of West Hartford; her two granddaughters: Sherri L. Mengual of Meriden and Samantha A. Mengual of West Hartford; her great grandson Gavin M. Lee; a brother; two sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son John R. Mengual and nine brothers and sisters.
