Obituary

Gertrude M. Warro, 98, passed away on Thursday June 29, 2017 at the CT Baptist Home. She was the wife of the late George Warro, her loving husband of 56 years.

Born on December 8, 1918 in Dracut, MA, she was the daughter of the late Wilfrid and Rosalie LeBourdais. Gertrude was a loving wife, daughter, sister, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her yard, making ceramics, and prided herself in keeping a neat and tidy home. Gertrude loved animals, especially dogs and birds. She wouldn't hesitate to put herself at risk to help an animal in need and nursed many injured birds back to health. She cherished her dogs Misty, Gypsy, and Queenie.

Gertrude proudly served her country as a service member at USA Army Base Fort Devens, 406th Army Field Support Brigade from 1942-1946, where she met her future husband. Gertrude drove trucks, ambulances, jeeps, and was the driver for high-ranking officials as a member of the Motor Pool.

Gertrude is survived by her son, Peter Warro and his wife Janice; her daughter Rosalie Rice and her husband Jeffrey; four grandchildren: Daniel Warro, Michelle Warro, Matthew Rice, and Carrie Bafuma, with whom she shared a special bond; six great-grandchildren: Alexis, Caine, and Jeffrey Mack, Charles Baez, Ava Rice, and Ryker Warro and her beloved brother, Armand LeBourdais.

Gertrude's family would like to express their heart felt gratitude to the staff at the CT Baptist Home in Meriden, her home for the past five years, for the compassionate care, support, and love they provided her and her family members. They would also like to thank the Franciscan Hospice Team for their care and support of Gertrude during her final days.
