Frederic W. Semrau, III. 75, died on Sunday August 10, 2014 at his home in Millerstown, PA surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Lelia (Jepson) Semrau, his loving wife of 42 years. Born on April 15, 1939 in Meriden, CT, he was the son of the late Frederic W. Semrau, II and Sophie (Swinka) Semrau. A Meriden resident for over 35 years, Fred attended local schools; he was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Meriden Rolling Mill (formerly International Silver). Fred was an avid sportsman; he raised English Setter bird dogs, Arabian horses and game fowl. Fred also enjoyed hunting, trapping and competing in bird dog trials across New England. In 1978 Fred and Lelia pursued their dream, buying a 130 acre farm in Pennsylvania. They spent five years rebuilding the house, barns and grounds. In 1983 the Semrau family moved into the farm where they raised timothy hay and beef cattle. Over the next several decades Fred fulfilled his dream by creating a thriving enterprise that he had long envisioned, Semrau's Angus Beef. He was an active member of the Angus Cattlemen's Association of America. Fred is the father of 12 children: Lori, Tammy, Audrey, Bridget, Aubrey, Leslie, Wiley, Sharon, Lorne, Justin, Samantha and Randy and 17 grandchildren who enjoyed "summer camp" on his farm: Sadie, Justin, Derek, Juliette, Lauren, Sophie, Lucca, Jamesen, Jayden, Joshua, Avery, Oscar, Kylee, Penelope, Christina, Will and Wyatt. He is also survived by two brothers: Daniel Semrau, Dennis Semrau and a sister Patricia Pendergast.
