Frank R.
Barretta
Dec 25, 1934 — Jul 11, 2025
Hamden
On July 11, 2025, the love of my life, Frank R. Barretta, of Meriden, CT, has gone home to our Lord at age ninety. Frank was born in New Haven on December 25, 1934, a wonderful Christmas gift to his parents, Dominick and Anna (Mauro) Barretta.
Frank leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret "Margie" (Kearney) Barretta; our son Dominick (Barretta) Fair and son-in-law Kristopher Fair, of Frederick, MD; our daughter Christianna Barretta and granddaughter Iszabella Barretta of Meriden; and his sister Carol Julianelle of Ft. Myers, FL. Frank also leaves behind nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many in-laws. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his daughter Veronica Barretta, his son Frank Barretta, his brother Joseph Barretta, his sister Louise (Pitzi, Frenchie) Apicella, brother-in-law Bruce Julianelle, and mother-in-law Anna (Diana-DeCapua) Kearney-Longley.
Frank and I met while working together at Arden House in Hamden in 1985 and married in 1988. We were blessed with our two children, Dominick in 1990 and Christianna in 1993, as well as our granddaughter Iszabella in 2015. When we became parents together, Frank became a 'Mr. Mom', retiring to provide care for our children.
Frank and I enjoyed spending time with our children, and my momma for regular Sunday meals throughout our marriage. Frank was an absolutely amazing cook and prepared meals for our family to eat together daily. He also prepared special dinners for our Fridays at home date nights after our children were off to bed. We enjoyed eating out regularly too, especially meeting family for breakfast every Saturday, or evenings out for seafood, pasta, or prime rib.
Frank was an active volunteer with our church, New Life Church of Wallingford. One of Frank's favorite volunteer opportunities was serving with the Grace Place for many years assuring the community of Meriden had food for their families. Frank was an active volunteer Board Member for over twenty years with the Sterling Village Association as well. Frank was known in our community and always enjoyed speaking with friends at the local convenience store and spending the days with 'Sammie' at his MiniMart for years. Everyone knew Frank and all spoke highly of him.
Frank was an avid sports fan in particular UCONN Women's basketball and the New England Patriots. We loved watching the Boston Celtics starting five together. Frank enjoyed going ocean fishing and playing golf.
During Frank's younger years, he worked as a caddie, truck driver, and all-around jack of all trades with electricity, plumbing, painting, mechanics, construction, maintenance, carpentry, and well you name it he either built it or fixed it! Frank was always ready to lend a helping hand as a diligent skilled worker devoted to all he did.
As Frank aged, his health began to decline and he became a resident of the Whitney Rehabilitation Center late 2022. The folks at WRC were so amazing. There are just too many to mention but I would like to recognize Pat (PJ) 1st shift, Ernie 2nd shift and Nurse Iham and Trish as well. Frank and I were always so appreciative of you. Thank you.
The utmost of importance is that Frank and I became born again Christians early in our marriage, I in 1992 and Frank in 1995. God had planted us long term in each of three churches throughout our marriage. Frank adored Jesus as our Lord and Savior and there is absolutely no doubt that he is basking in God's glory at this very moment and for all eternity. I love you Frankie baby and I look forward to the day we shall see each other again when we will spend tomorrow together Always and Forever.
