Francis J. "Frank" McAuliffe, 80, of Meriden, beloved husband for 22 years of Catherine (Ciarfella) McAuliffe, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 13, 2022 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.
Frank was born in New York City, February 18, 1942, a son of the late Michael McAuliffe and Mary (Ryan) McAuliffe and had been a resident of Meriden over the past three decades. Frank graduated from Oratory Prep High School as class valedictorian and received his B.A. in Communications from Seton Hall. He subsequently received his M.S. in Counseling from Southern CT. State University in New Haven.
Frank enjoyed an early career for 20 years in radio and television broadcasting and producing and continued on for 35 years as a Photography Instructor at Paier College. He was also a wedding photographer and fine art photographer for 30 years. Additionally, Frank served for 30 years at the U.S. Postal Service. He spent three decades as a vocalist for weddings and in churches singing with his wife Catherine. Frank also served as a lector and eucharistic minister for a decade at two churches.
In addition to his wife Catherine, he is survived by his children Siobhan (Sean) Mahoney of MA, and Michael McAuliffe and Caitlin McAuliffe both of CT; his stepchildren Richard DiPersio and Mary (Agny) Franco all of Texas, and Edward (Hui) DiPersio of CT; 7 grandchildren, Eion, Colin, Maeve and Margaret McAuliffe, and Jack, Nora and Caitlin Mahoney. He is also survived by six step grandchildren Richard and Marcos DiPersio, Angie Marie and Jules Franco and Michelle and Giselle DiPersio. Frank was predeceased by his three brothers D. Philip McAuliffe, W. George McAuliffe and Charles McAuliffe; and his sister Therese McAuliffe.
Frank's family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., when the funeral procession will proceed to St. Faustina Parish (St. Stanislaus Church), 82 Akron St., Meriden, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Frank may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd S #4b, Southington, CT. 06489.
