Fiorino "Phil" Bonviso, 87, beloved husband for 40 years of the late Doris (Martin) Bonviso, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at home.
Born on July 1, 1931 in Meriden, CT, he was the son of the late Anthony and Concetta (Cataldo) Bonviso. Phil was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Phil was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was granted two Bronze Service Stars, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and United Nation Service Medal. Phil was employed as a Machinist for New Departure. He loved to work in his backyard and he enjoyed a wide variety of cuisine. Fishing and playing cards were also an important part of his life. He had a song for everything.
He is survived by his daughter Phyllis A. Bonviso of Meriden; his son Edward T. Bonviso and his wife Anne of Middletown; his grandchildren Alysia Bonviso and Edward Bonviso II of Middletown; his sister Sibella Dokas of Kensington; and nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends at The Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St, Meriden, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.
