Felicia Piworowicz, 76, beloved wife of the late Stanislaus Piworowicz died on Saturday January 16, 2016 surrounded by her family at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Born on October 19, 1939 in Poland, she was the daughter of the late John and Stephania (Kompal) Katanekza. A resident of Meriden since 1971, Felicia was employed as a machine operator for CUNO from where she retired after many years of service. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of its Holy Rosary Society and Sunshine Club. Felicia had a special role in caring for the Chapel at St. Stanislaus. She proudly took care of the chapel and handmade the Alter Cloths. Felicia was very involved in the success of the St. Stanislaus June Fest, making pierogis months before the event and working the Fest in the kitchen from start to finish. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. Most important to her was her family whom she loved and cherished.
Mrs. Piworowicz is survived by her three daughters: Teresa Bukowski and her husband Krzysztof of Cheshire, CT, Anna Brown and her husband Alan of River Vale, NJ, Gina Quinn and her husband Randy of South Meriden, CT; two brothers: Victor Katanekza and his wife Kristina, Tadeusz Katanekza and his wife Helena; a sister: Ann Machnik; five grandchildren, who where her pride and joy: Brandon, Noah, Skyler, Samuel, Benjamin and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday January 21st at 9:30 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
