Evelyn (Bochinski) Wysocki, a life-time resident of the Meriden area, died on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut: Bradley Memorial Campus.
Born June 3, 1927 in Meriden, Connecticut, to John and Anna (Juchniewicz) Bochinski. Evelyn was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School in 1942 and the Meriden High School in 1946. She met her husband Stanley B. Wysocki, also of Meriden, in 1948 and they married in 1951. The couple lived in Meriden for most of their lives and moved to Southington in 2000 after spending a year in Vero Beach, Florida.
Evelyn, also known as "Blondie" by her friends, was a life-time parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and an active member of the Polish Falcons of America. While at the Polish Falcons, she led their Fife and Drum Corps as a majorette to National Championships in 1940, 1941 and 1942. Evelyn represented the Polish Falcons at a number of national and district conventions and she also served as secretary/treasurer for local Nest 68. For all her years of dedicated service to the Polish Falcons, Evelyn received the Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal Legion of Honor awards.
During her professional career, Evelyn worked for the Meriden Savings Bank as well as the Connecticut General Life Insurance (CIGNA) and Travelers insurance companies in their Medicare claims division until her retirement in 1992.
Evelyn was passionate about a variety of things including dancing and music (especially Polkas), sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening and classic movies. She was a devoted wife and mother and she will be most remembered for the love, compassion and care that she showed all of her friends and family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Poole and husband, Tom of Southington, daughter, Denise Mrazik and her husband Wayne of Wallingford, son, Dennis Wysocki and his wife Laura of Flowery Branch, GA, son Bruce Wysocki of Commerce Township, MI, grandson, Travis Wysocki of Commerce Township, MI, granddaughters, Melissa Daley of Meriden, Caroline Wysocki of Flowery Branch, GA, Sloane Wysocki of Commerce Township, MI, sister Marion Vaillancourt of Westminter, MD and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley B. Wysocki, grandson Douglas Daley and brother, Edmund Bochinski.
A celebration of her life, her funeral, will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday morning May 18th from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
