Obituary

Evelyn A. Rossbach, 92, died on Sunday November 10, 2013 at Miller Memorial Community. Born in Waterbury on February 11, 1921, she was the beloved daughter of the late William and Anna (Kochonowski) Szustecki. Evelyn graduated Waterbury Catholic High School with honors. She moved to Meriden in 1946 after marrying Norman H. Rossbach of this city, where she remained until 1966. For the next twelve years Evelyn lived in the Midwest before returning to Connecticut and relocating to Milford in 1979. Shortly after the death of her husband in 1982 she moved back to Meriden and lived in Victoria Towers for the next 28 years before residing at Miller Memorial Community. Evelyn worked for Wachovia Bank until her retirement in 1995. She was a "green-thumb" gardener, a voracious reader, a passionate music-lover, a concert goer and movie buff. She believed in progressive politics. Evelyn will most affectionately be remembered by her friends and relatives as a "woman's woman." Mrs. Rossbach is survived by three sons: Jeff, Kurt and Fred; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and two nieces. She was predeceased by her son Alan.
