Obituary

Emile R. Guilmette, passed away on Monday evening April 13, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Menard) Guilmette, the love of his life for 59 years. Born on February 9, 1932 in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Edouard and Eva (Paquette) Guilmette. Emile was a longtime resident of South Meriden and parishioner of Holy Angels Church. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a front line infantry man. Emile was employed as a Roll Grinder for Wallingford Steel, a division of the Alleghany Ludlum Company from where he retired after many years of service. He was a member of the Elks Club, the VFW and the American Legion Post 45. Emile enjoyed playing golf and playing cards especially Cribbage. A loving husband, father and grandfather he will be greatly missed. Mr. Guilmette is survived by his daughter Celeste Martowski and her husband Frank of Durham; three sons: Brian Guilmette of Australia, Conrad Guilmette and his wife Stacey of Southington, Edward Guilmette and his wife Julia of MA: 11 grandchildren: Aaron, Danielle and Noah Guilmette; Zachary, Alexis, Joshua and Nadiya Martowski; Kristie and Hannah Guilmette and Henri and Isabel Guilmette; 2 great granddaughters: Cadence and Melodie Guilmette, many nieces and nephews and his wonderful neighbor and friend, Phil Beals. He was predeceased by his son David Guilmette; three brothers: Fernand, Edgar and Armand Guillemette and two sisters: Beatrice Lapointe and Sr. Grace Guillemette. His funeral will be held on Saturday April 18th, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Holy Angels Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday evening April 17th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. or Saturday morning April 18th from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
