Edward Joseph
Boucher
Jan 25, 1936 — Aug 11, 2022
Meriden
Edward J. Boucher, 86, of Meriden, loving husband of Ann F. (Berry) Boucher, peacefully entered into eternal life, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Curtis Home in Meriden. Edward was born in Brunswick, Maine on January 25, 1936, the son of the late Antonio Boucher and Ida (Bergeron) Boucher. In 1962, Edward and Ann moved to Meriden to start their family.
Edward loved to dance and sing. He was active in variety shows in his youth. He also performed in shows through Holy Angels Church, where he also joined and sang in the choir. Edward lived his best moments surrounded by the absolute best friends he can have: Edward & Nancy McCray, Chuck & Gerry Holmes, Rachel & Earl Goode and his dearest cousins, Jerry & Diane Boucher. Together, this crew would enjoy dances and travel and some impressive Halloween bashes. In addition to destinations like Hawaii, St. Maartin, Spain, New Orleans & Virginia Beach, he loved the yearly trips with his crew to Shawnee on the Delaware. Edward also loved spending time, holidays and adventures with in-laws and close friends, Bob & Anita Berry of Bath, Maine and Dean & Jennifer Berry of Wiscasset, Maine.
Edward enjoyed bowling, watching sports and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. His son, Eddie, always kept him supplied with the proper hats and t-shirts to show his team support. He liked to draw and often would draw the places he saw on vacation. Edward loved watching Abbott & Costello after church.
Edward loved his grandson, Jeffrey S. Boucher, who predeceased his grandfather in 2006. He often accompanied Jeffrey to his various sports practices. He enjoyed watching him play and was immensely proud when he became a Marine and later a police officer for the city of Meriden. Edward enjoyed "Eddie Night" every week with his second grandson, Reese Boucher Stevens, when he was young. Edward and his family would later gain a granddaughter, Brook Gula of New Bedford, Massachusetts and another grandson, Jason Vaughn and his wife, Marsha, and children Nora & Ellie of South Hadley, Massachusetts. He always looked forward to their visits and spending time with them on Christmas Eve along with his Godson, John Berry, his wife, Liz, and daughter, Grace of Wallingford.
Edward was employed by New Departure for 34 years until his retirement. When a serious accident days after his retirement led him to Gaylord Hospital for rehabilitation, he was given the gift of returning his care by volunteering for Gaylord Hospital for sixteen years. The Boucher family will be forever grateful for the care and support Edward received through this experience.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by his three children, Edward Boucher and his wife, Cathy, of Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, James Boucher and his wife, Marie, of Hollywood, Florida, and his daughter, Nicole and her partner, Russell Santos; his brother, Louis Boucher and his wife, Gerd and several nieces and nephews. Edward is predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Maurice & Bonnie Boucher, and sister and brother-in-law, Doris & Phillip Bossie, brother-in-law, Bob Berry, and some of his crew of friends, Edward & Nancy McCray, Chuck & Gerry Holmes and Earl Goode.
The Boucher family want to extend their love and gratitude to the staff of the Curtis Home, who cared and went above and beyond for Edward while he was a resident there. Special thanks to Lauren & Ari, for keeping him out of trouble (as much as one could).
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish at Holy Angels Church, 585 Main Street, South Meriden.
