Dorothy Jo "Dee Jay" (VanAlstyne) Couture, 67, passed away on Wednesday November 28, 2018 at MidState Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She is the wife of Roger Couture, her loving husband of 46 years.
Born on November 2, 1951 in Amarillo, TX, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Alice (Calhoun) VanAlstyne. Dee was a longtime resident of Meriden. She was employed as an office manager for the Arrhythmia Center of Connecticut in New Haven from where she retired. She will long be remembered for her warm heart and generosity. Dee could often be found enjoying a cup of coffee and good conversation with her family and friends. Dee was a dedicated Yankees Fan. She was a talented woman who loved to knit, sew and shop with her friends. She enjoyed good books. She had a kindness about her that will never be forgotten and a way of making holidays, birthdays and all occasions celebrated so special. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Dee will be greatly missed.
Dee is survived by her three children: Allison Trejo and her husband Gilbert of Semmes, AL, Bryan Couture and his wife Melissa of Charleston, SC, Steven Couture and his wife Jennifer of Southington; seven grandchildren: Matthew, Malerie, Kody, Willard, Adeline, Isabelle, Maximus and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Robert VanAlstyne of Glendale AZ.
