Delor "Del" A. Grimord , 89, beloved husband of the late Jean (Boardsen) Grimord passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday January 26, 2019 at Apple Rehab Coccomo in Meriden CT.
Born on January 27, 1929 in Meriden, he was the son of the late Delor J. Grimord and Caroline (Day) Grimord. Del grew up in Meriden where he attended local schools. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. Del worked as a pressman for the Meriden Record Journal from where he retired after many years of service. He relocated to Vermont and then Maine, where he lived for the last 20 years. Del was an avid outdoors-man and he especially enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and camping. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Del is survived by his son Craig and his wife Michele; two daughters: Lynndel Bartulis and her husband Ken, Holly Kulowski and her husband Donald, a sister Irene Naszcyniec of Meriden; two grandchildren: Stephanie & Nicholas; two great grandchildren: Cheyenne and Austin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Marilyn (Hemingway) Grimord, a sister Shirleyann Sasso and two nephews: Les Sasso and Jackie Naszcyniec.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday January 31st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, CT. Military Honors will be presented during the calling hours at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
