Cynthia (Stratton) Szymaszek, 65, of Meriden, loving wife of the late David P. Szymaszek, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by loved ones, Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Hartford Hospital.

Cynthia was born in Meriden, December 17, 1959, a daughter of the late Richard C. Ward and Alice (Ihrke) Ward and has been a lifelong Meriden resident. Cynthia was retired as assistant registrar of voters for the city of Meriden. Before working as assistant registrar, she was employed at Canberra Industries amongst other various jobs. But, her most important jobs were Mom and Oma. In her free time, Cynthia enjoyed painting and creating art in the world around her, she loved vacationing in Rhode Island with her family and friends, and occasional trips to the casinos, typically with her partner in crime, Anne.

Cynthia is survived by her 3 devoted children, Paul D. Szymaszek and wife Erica Kramer, Melany M. Szymaszek and husband Steven Artibani, and Emily S. Szymaszek; 3 cherished grandchildren, Sarena Szymaszek, David Artibani and Julian Szymaszek; her 3 brothers, Steven Clay Stratton, David Paul Stratton and Richard Charles Ward; her mother-in-law Cynthia Szymaszek of Meriden; several nieces; nephews; and her faithful four-legged companions, "Cinderella," "Jelly Bean," and "Dusty." She was predeceased by her brother Mark Curtis Stratton and her forever companion "Ollie."

A Celebration of Life and visitation will be held, Friday, November 14, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Southington Community Cultural Arts (SoCCA), 93 Main St., Southington, CT. 06489.  A private committal service will be held in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Meriden.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St. www.meridenmemorialfh.com
