Catherine P. Austin, 98, beloved wife of the late Chester A. Austin died on Thursday February 28, 2013 at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. Born on November 21, 1914 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Catherine (Matarese) Parrett. Catherine was a parishioner of St Joseph Church and a member of their Rosary Society and Mother's Circle. She was employed as a secretary for Platt High School from where she retired. Catherine enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, and sewing and was an excellent cook. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters: Virginia A. Valentine and her husband Bruce of Meriden and Susan M. Davis of Southington; two grandsons: Jason Valentine and his girlfriend Christina Burgos of Middletown, Jamie Valentine and his wife Rachel Valentine of Meriden; two great grandchildren: Addison Valentine and Jack Valentine both of Meriden and her dear cousin Helena Hamel of Meriden. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Stephen Davis.
