Caroline B. Bruton, 90, of Wallingford, died on July 24, 2016 at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Leo Richard, her loving husband of 60 years.

Born on April 11, 1926 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Karoline (Kotrys) Hogan. Caroline was raised by her widowed mother and large extended family in a house on Baldwin's Pond. She was a graduate of Meriden High School, class of 1945. Caroline worked for General Electric as a cost clerk and later Data Products for 10 years in quality control. She met her husband Leo, at a dance. They married in 1948, raised five children and were together 60 years until Leo's death in 2008. Caroline lived at 54 Tankwood Rd for 54 years before moving to Silver Pond Apartments in 2011. She will be fondly remembered by all the friends she made while living at Silver Pond.

Mrs. Bruton is survived by her son Daniel and his wife Patricia of Wallingford; two daughters: Lynn Bruton of Meriden, Janet Valentin of Middletown; a brother Joseph Hogan of Largo, FL; her daughter-in-law Julia Bruton of Webster, MA, widow of Thomas; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their children and many loving family and friends. She was predeceased her sons: Leo Joseph, Thomas Joseph and her brother Daniel Hogan.

Her family would like to thank the medical professionals at the hospitals and rehabilitation centers that helped Caroline over the years recover from setbacks and remain living in her home at Silver Pond for as long as possible.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday July 28th at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and attend her graveside service on Friday morning July 29th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
