Obituary

Carol Ann Christoffers, 85, of Cheshire, formerly of Meriden, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Elim Park in Cheshire.

Carol was born in Huntington, New York, May 5, 1937, the daughter of the late William H. Christoffers and Anna (Hanzik) Christoffers and had been a longtime resident of the Mattabasset Condominium Association, where she could frequently be seen riding her bicycle, or walking around the grounds.  She was a parishioner of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Meriden.  Carol was educated at St. John's Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing, New York University and Yale University, where she received her Master's degree in psychiatric nursing.  Carol retired from the position of Supervising Nurse Consultant, for the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health, after thirty years of service.  She was a member of the American Nurses Association, CT. Nurses Association, AARP Castle Craig Chapter, CT. State Employees Association, Retiree's Chapter 406, the Meriden Poetry Society, the International Society of Poets, the Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum, and the Friends of the Meriden Public Library.  Carol was a frequent contributor to the "Pennons of Pegasus" column in the Meriden Record-Journal.  She had a passion for bike riding on Block Island, enjoyed walking, and reading the poetry of Emily Dickinson.  Carol is also the author of "Carolsong", a book of poems, and "Reflections" is her second book of poetry.

She is survived by her cousin Christine Johnson and her husband Russell, of South Carolina and many dear friends.

All are invited to attend her funeral service, Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 20 Catlin St., Meriden.  Interment will follow in the William Henry Lee Memorial Cemetery, Southfield, MA.  Contributions in memory of Carol may be made to the CT.
