Beverly "Bev" J. Vecchitto, wife, mother, daughter and sister passed away unexpectedly at the age of 75 on Saturday May 20, 2017. She was the wife of Francis Vecchitto, Sr., her loving husband and best friend of 57 years.
A long-time resident of Meriden, Beverly was a kind and loving friend to all who crossed her path. She became a familiar face in the community, working as a crossing guard for 20 years. Bev loved to cook holiday meals and spend time with her family. An avid animal lover, she cared for her adored pets: China, JoJo and Diamond. Bev enjoyed singing and dancing. She was the life of every party.
Besides her husband Francis, Mrs. Vecchitto is survived by her 10 children: Frank Vecchitto, Jr., Mary (Vecchitto) Gallo and her husband Paul, David Vecchitto, Dianna (Vecchitto) Zimmitti and her husband Vincent, Christy (Vecchitto) Capparella and her husband Alfonso, Carrie (Vecchitto) Carroll and her husband Bob, Peter Vecchitto, Michael Vecchitto, Jeffrey Vecchitto and Tony Vecchitto and his wife Milly. If there was one thing she loved more than being a mother, it was being a grandmother. Beverly is survived by her 21 cherished grandchildren: Gina, Paul (Ester), Amber, Brian (Kiare), Jennifer, Nicole, Salvatore, Samantha, Niko, Nina, Angela, Anna, Joshua, Nicholas, Megan, Peter Jr., Dominic, Joey, Jerry, Rosie, Joyce and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers: Wally Hayton and his wife Carol, Dwight Hayton, Roy Hayton; three sisters: Clara, Ruthie, Janet Hayton; her cousins Violet Buteau whom she cared for deeply and Lynn Thomas. She was predeceased by her mother Marion Watts, her grandson Frankie Vecchitto, III and two brothers: Butch and Marvin Hayton.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday May 24th at 9:15 a.m. from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday May 23rd from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
