Bette Shepard, age 77, of Meriden, beloved wife of the late Lewis R. Shepard, Jr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 12, 2014 at her home. Born on November 28, 1936 in Cheshire, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Gertrude Rabideau. "A working woman all her life", Bette was employed as a clerk for ShopRite for many years. She was an avid fan of the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskies. Bette especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. A cherished wife, mother and grandmother, Bette will be greatly missed. Bette is survived by her children: Mike Shepard and his fiancé Donna, Randy Shepard and his fiancé Mary Jane, Dawn Way and Doug Shepard and his wife Mary; six grandchildren: Gregory Shepard, Brian Shepard, Brandon Way, Camarie Shepard, Noelle Shepard, Alex Shepard; four sisters: Gail Richards, Gloria Richards, Lorraine Johnson, Coral BeeBee; a brother Jerry Rabideau Jr. and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four sisters: Loretta Hager, Judy Bacon, Doris Moore and infant sister Grace Rabideau. "There never was a woman like her. She was gentle as a dove and brave as a lioness."
