In a moment that came too soon, Benigno Malave, 49, departed this realm unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Benigno was born in Añasco, Puerto Rico, on January 22, 1976, but became a long-time beloved resident of Meriden, CT. He is the son of the late Placido Malave and deeply adored mother, the late Maria Elena Malave.

He is survived by his sons Benigno Malave Jr., Patrick Malave, and Nestor Malave; his granddaughters Violet Malave and Amelia Malave, whom he deeply adored; his siblings Norberto Gonzalez, Josefa Malave, Jose Malave, Carlos Malave, Gladys Malave, Daniel Malave, Jorge Malave, Ismael Malave, Waldemar Malave, Noel Malave, Marisol Malave, Antonio Malave; predeceased, Rafael Gonzalez; his longtime best friend, who he considered a brother, Rafael Rodriguez; many nieces and nephews.

Benny is leaving behind a legacy full of humor, unconditional forgiveness, drive, and endless charm. He was employed as an airline pilot. He was blessed to have his last flight to Puerto Rico, where he felt at home and at peace. His humor lit up rooms and lifted spirits — a true master of joy in everyday moments.

Benny's services will be held at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St, Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. His family is reserving 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for relatives only; friends will be received at 9 a.m. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. He will be laid to peaceful rest in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
