Aurel “Bud” Godard, 93, a proud U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran, and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 3rd, 2026 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the loving and devoted husband for 72 years of Alice (Shepard) Godard.

Aurel was born in Crysler, Ontario Canada, March 4, 1933, a son of the late Alcide Godard and Marie Rose (Charlebois) Godard and had been a Meriden resident for many years. Aurel was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and had been employed by American Cyanamid in Wallingford until his retirement.

In addition to his wife Alice, he leaves to cherish his memory his children Robert (Carolyn) Godard, Kathy Tomazic, David (Loretta) Godard and Carol Godard; his grandchildren Eric Godard, Brian (Megan) Godard, Hilary (Adrian) Andreotta, Wesley Godard, Aurelia (Eir) Maceda and Kyle Godard; his great grandchildren Joshua Johnson, Tyler Andreotta, Noah Andreotta, Ava Andreotta, Elliot Godard, Hudson Godard and Wells Godard; his three brothers Donald Godard, Laurier Godard and Marcel Godard; many nieces; and nephews. Aurel is predeceased by his son-in-law Steven Tomazic; his sister Raymonde Bessette; and his brothers Reynald Godard, Claude Godard and Rene Godard.

Aurel’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Monday, September 7, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden. Those attending the Mass are invited to go directly to St. Rose Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Aurel “Bud” Godard may be made to a charity of your choice.
