Arthur P. Dutra, Jr., 71, died peacefully in his sleep Sunday morning February 10, 2013 in Flagler Beach, FL. He was the husband of Salome (Sally Maliszewski) Dutra, his loving wife of 50 years. Born on August 6, 1941, he was the son of the late Arthur P. Dutra, Sr. and Mary (Augustine) Dutra. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Arthur was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School and Maloney High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy from1960 to 1965. Artie spent most of his working life in the food service industry. He worked 10 years for the First National Supermarket, he owned and operated an Arnold baked goods delivery route, he was a delivery man for Wonder Bread and concluded his working days as a State employee in maintenance at the Whiting Institute. Known as "Duke" to his family and friends, Artie was a very likeable fellow with a keen sense of humor. He loved fishing, fresh or saltwater and was very proficient at it. Artie enjoyed his winter vacations in Florida, staying from January through April. He was a big fan of the UCONN Women's basketball team and knew all of the team statistics. Besides his wife Sally, Artie is survived by his three sons: Arthur P. Dutra, III and his wife Joy (Hyde) of South Meriden, John Dutra and his wife Natalie (Foryan) of Guilford and James Dutra of Meriden; three sisters: Beverly Miller and her husband Richard of Meriden, twins, Joan Krenn of Burlington, CT and Jean Lewis and her husband James of Old Lyme; five grandchildren: Arthur P. Dutra, IV, Tina Dutra, Robert Dutra, Kayleigh Dutra and Nicholas Dutra and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Robert Krenn.
