Anthony J. Davella, Sr., 98, beloved husband of the late Mildred (Pierson) Davella died on Tuesday January 26, 2016 at MidState Medical Center.

Born on September 19, 1917 he was the son of the late Antonio and Brigida (Belpedio) Davella.  He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Anthony owned and operated Davellas Market in Meriden before becoming general manager of Davella Volkswagen from where he retired after 30 years of service. Anthony was a fan of the NY Yankees, the NE Patriots and especially the UCONN Men & Women's basketball teams. A loving father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.

Anthony is survived by his son Anthony J. Davella, Jr. and his wife Karen of Clinton; his daughter Jean Davella of Meriden; two grandchildren: Daisy Adams-Ellard, Jennifer Villatte; two great grandchildren: Ida Ellard, Emily Ellard; a son-in-law Stephen Adams and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Laurel Adams; two brothers: Frank, Louis, and three sisters: Theresa, Ann and Emily.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday January 30th directly at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
