Angelo Russo, 77, of Meriden, loving husband of Antionetta (DeCristofaro) Russo, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, Tuesday, August 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Angelo was born in Treglia, Italy, January 2, 1944, a son of the late Diamonte Russo and Filomena (Fontanella) Russo and had been a Meriden resident for many years. Angelo was employed by General Electric in Plainville for 31 years until his retirement and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He enjoyed watching soccer and cheering for his favorite team, Napoli! Among many qualities, Angelo will be remembered for his love of wine making, tending to his fig trees and lemon trees.
In addition to his wife Antionetta, he is survived by loving children, Filomena Russo, Joseph (Sabrina) Russo, Rosa (Brian) Ranno, Enza (Giuseppe) Maiorano, Giovanni (Nicole) Russo, Tony Russo; 14 cherished grandchildren Nicholas, David, Christopher, Jeffrey, Victoria, Michael, Lillian, Pasquale, Angelo, Angelina, Joseph Jr., Stephanie, Vincenzo, and Giovanni Jr. He was predeceased by his son Diamonte Russo; and his siblings Giuseppe, Nicola, Maria and Giovanni Russo.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Monday, August 23, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, from the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home at 9 a.m., when the funeral procession will proceed to Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum. Face coverings will be required throughout all services.
