Angel Luis Gonzalez, 58, of Meriden passed away on Monday September 24, 2012 at home after a long fight with cancer in the presence of his wife. He was a highly decorated 12 year Army veteran. After his military career he served the city of Westport, CT for 16 years. Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, Angel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family. Angel is survived by his wife, Awilda Gonzalez; children, Angel L. Irizary, Jose L. Gonzalez and spouse, Jessica, Veronique Gonzalez, Lorraine Gonzalez; stepchildren, Madeline Flores and spouse, Albert, Jacqueline Carrero, Carlos A. Carrero and spouse, Vanessa, Jesus A. Carrero and spouse, Sorimar, Noemi Carrero, and Betsy Rosado and spouse, Javier. Angel is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, three stepbrothers, one stepsister, 26 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many more friends and family members.
